Silver Lining On Major Road Show For 2015

Few performance-boat owners have more travel gumption—at least with a 41-foot custom catamaran in tow—every year than Win Farnsworth of Denver. This year is no exception, as come February Farnsworth will haul Silver Lining, the first M41 Widebody produced by DCB Performance Boats in El Cajon, Calif., to Miami for the Florida Powerboat Club‘s Miami Boat Show Poker Run. And that’s just the beginning.

Farnsworth’s on-water attendance plans this year include the Desert Storm Poker Run on Lake Havasu—his “home water”—in Arizona, the Texas Outlaw Challenge near Houston, Louisiana’s Tickfaw 200 Poker Run and the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout in Central Missouri. From there, it’s back to Lake Havasu for the annual DCB Regatta followed by the Monster Bash Poker Run. (Farnsworth was interviewed by speedonthewater.com at the 2014 Monster Bash Poker Run—see video below.)

Why bother hitting the road when plenty of go-fast boating opportunities are less than a day away on the dam-formed Colorado River lakes?

“It’s just a very cool thing to do,” said Farnsworth. “Instead of expanding your boating family from 75 to 100 people a year, you can expand it to 500 or 600 people.”

What’s more, the events listed above are on Farnsworth’s “official” travel scheduled for 2015—the list could grow. Though he hasn’t committed, he may bring his twin Mercury Racing 1350 engine-powered 41-footer to Michigan’s Boyne Thunder Poker Run in July. And Anthony Scioli, the key organizer of the Buffalo Poker Run in Western New York, has reached out to the Colorado-based go-fast lover with an invitation that would, in all likelihood, make Farnsworth a shoo-in for the event’s “greatest distance traveled” distinction.

“That one’s pretty far away,” Farnsworth said. “But you never know.”
