Sixteen Power Honored During PRI Show

Known simply as PRI in the automobile world, the annual Performance Racing Industry Trade Show in Indianapolis is—by all accounts—a gearhead’s dream. But the event isn’t limited to high-performance automotive hardware from complete engines to accessories, which is why Sixteen Power displayed its evolving V-16 marine engine platform in the show, which closed last Friday.

The 16-cylinder engine was impressive to earn the coveted 2019 PRI Masters of Motors Trophy in the Naturally Aspirated category for the Detroit-based company.

“It’s great to be recognized at PRI because that is a hardcore crowd,” said Tom Robinson, who is heading up the Sixteen Power program.

Unveiled at the 2017 Miami International Boat Show, the Sixteen Power project is still in development.

“We have finished durability testing on the naturally aspirated 1,100-plus-hp engine,” said Robinson. “We are now converting that engine from LS3 to LS7 components aiming for 1,300-plus-hp, and we’ll be back on the dyno with that in the new year. Two engines are being built for the test boat for water testing in the spring.”
