Sneak Peek: Outerlimits SV 29 OB Graphics Package

When it comes to designing a paintjob, especially for a new model, Stephen Miles goes through one revision after the next. The founder and owner of the Owensboro, Ky., custom graphics shop that bears his name, Miles is a perfectionist. Whether he’s creating a color scheme to airbrush in house or coming up with a design to be applied elsewhere, he’s never really “done.” But at some point he has to stop—or nothing gets painted.

Such is the case with the final graphics package for the new twin Mercury Racing 300R outboard engine-powered Outerlimits Offshore powerboats SV 29. Though the 29-footer technically isn’t a “new” model—the stern-drive-powered SV 29 debuted in 2012—it is the Bristol, R.I., builder’s first 29-footer to be powered by outboards.

“It’s a very fitting paintjob for the SV 29 and it’s very classic Outerlimits,” said Miles.

The boat will be painted at Outerlimits. The in-house paint crew currently is prepping it for the process, according to production manager Jason Amaral.

“We’re in the final stage of paint prep,” he said. “Being as it’s a small boat, that shouldn’t take too long. Then we can begin final assembly. We did a lot of parts pre-fitment, so all things being equal it should come together quickly and be on the water by June. We’re hoping to showcase it locally during the Borden Light Marina Charity Poker Run in August.
