Sunsation 32 CCX Gets Thumbs Up from Design Consultant Tres Martin

The all-new 32 CCX from Sunsation Boats has been given the seal of approval from Tres Martin of Tres Martin Performance Boat School, who was heavily involved in the hull design of the Algonac, Mich., company’s new 32-foot center console.

Powered by twin Mercury Verado 350s, Sunsation’s new 32 CCX is ready for its debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

“Tres said it was probably the nicest running boat he’s ever designed,” said Sunsation’s Joe Schaldenbrand, who was genuinely appreciative of Martin, who spent a couple of cool days on the water with the Sunsation crew late last week. “And he’s right, there’s nothing wrong with the boat. It rides so smooth and flat and stable. There’s no porpoise, no bow rise and no chine walk. Tres got it right, right out of the chute.

“We played with engine heights and we turned the props in and out, and the boat was rock-solid no matter what we did,” he continued. “Tres assisted my brother, Wayne, in designing our 36 and it is the best-running boat in our fleet. That is debatable now. I mean anyone who goes for a ride in this thing will want to buy it.”

Schaldenbrand said the 32 CCX, which is powered by twin Mercury Marine Verado 350s, ran a consistent 75-mph top speed. He added that Sunsation has seven of the 32-footers on order and that one of the main differences between the 32 CCX and the company’s popular 34 CCX, he said, is that the 32 CCX doesn’t have a notched transom so it has almost as much running surface as the 34 CCX.

“After 30 years, we finally hit a home run right off the bat,” joked Schaldenbrand, who will be showing off the 32 CCX at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in early November alongside a trio of dealers—Captain’s Choice, Doller Offshore and UnRhiel Sunsation.
