Sunsation Offers 360-Degree Tours of New CCX Models

The company isn’t the first boat builder to utilize the technology, but the visualization of what Sunsation Powerboats is now able to showcase on its ever-improving website is very cool—and it’s going to get even better soon enough, according to John Potts of American Performance Media (APM).

Interested consumers can now take a 360-degree virtual tour of Sunsation Powerboats‘ latest 34 CCX (check out the tour here).

On Tuesday, the Algonac, Mich., company posted a complete 360-degree virtual of its 34 CCX (Center Cabin Xtreme) sport center console powered by twin Mercury Verado 300 engines. And this afternoon, Sunsation added its second interactive tour featuring its latest 29 CCX, a dark blue and gray boat also powered by a pair of 300-hp Verados.

Whether at home, at the office or on a mobile device, enthusiasts can walk around the center consoles and zoom in for a closer look at any part of the boat from any angle. Sunsation President Joe Schaldenbrand believes the tour is a great way to display the superb craftsmanship that has made the 29- and 34-foot boats so popular.

“Utilizing the latest in 360-degree high-resolution photography and specialized software, the team at American Performance Media has created a truly immersive experience for our customers, where they can freely move around the deck and zoom in close on all the features and benefits of this boat,” Schaldenbrand said.

“Customers always want to check out any product before making a purchase decision,” said Potts, APM’s executive producer who has been involved with automotive motorsports, marine product marketing and event coverage of offshore powerboat racing since 2000. “The final purchase may not be executed until after an actual test ride, but being able to thoroughly tour the boat from the comfort of their own environment is a tremendous help to consumers in becoming familiar with the product. Plus it’s a fun and interactive experience for the interested buyer.”

Potts, who wrote and directed the soon-to-be-released “King of Offshore” documentary on Reggie Fountain (read the story), said the next phase of the tours are going to feature identifying callouts for the various components on each boat as well as available options not included on the model.

Potts, who added that his company’s services are available for other companies looking to showcase product in a similar fashion, said APM is working on a 360-degree presentation of the boat from the outside, which is a bit trickier. Stay tuned for more cool interactivity from Sunsation as the company works to advance its digital reach.
