Super Boat International Key West Worlds Moving Forward

Super Boat International’s 37th Annual Key West World Championship are still on for Nov. 5-12 in Key West, Fla., as originally scheduled. The effects of Hurricane Irma on the Lower Keys had put the event in question, but SBI announced the event will continue this year in a press release this morning.

“We are going to race in Key West as scheduled and we have a lot to do before then,” said John Carbonell, the president of SBI, in the release. “Like everyone else here in the Keys, we were also affected—so we are all in this together.

Thank you for your understanding as there are many details to work through in the coming weeks,” he continued. “The people of Florida Keys and Key West are resilient and want to show the world that, while it is not easy, in hard times we can work together and make things happen.

As reported on the speedonthewater.com last week, SBI National Championships will return to Clearwater, Fla., at the end of the month.
