Super Cat Fest Playing Host to Speedonthewater.com Center Console Roundup

Following the success of the 2018 Speedonthewater.com Mercury Racing Verado 400R Sport Cat Roundup that took place at Camden On The Lake Resort during the one-and-only Super Cat Fest in Lake Ozark, Mo., the late-August event is proud to announce it is once again hosting the Speedonthewater.com test team for yet another roundup. Although this time the boats are going to be different.

Just as Super Cat Fest has grown to include center consoles from MTI, Mystic Powerboats and more, this year’s Speedonthewater.com roundup taking place Thursday, August 22 during the weeklong Lake of the Ozarks Shootout is going to be focused on the red-hot center console market. While it won’t be as direct of a comparison as last year’s Sport Cat Roundup since the number of engines, lengths of the boats and horsepower of the engines are going to be fairly diverse, the detailed reports from the roundup are going to be featured as a whole in the September/October Speed On The Water digital magazine.

Along with some of the biggest and baddest cats in the country, Super Cat Fest organizer Alvin Heathman said he is excited to have the industry’s latest and greatest performance center consoles from the likes of Cigarette Racing Team, Deep Impact Custom Boats, Fountain Powerboats, MTI, Mystic, Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats, Statement Marine and Sunsation Boats included in this year’s 10th annual Super Cat Fest showcase.

The Speedonthewater.com test team is excited to be a part of the Super Cat Fest festivities again.

“Having center consoles as part of the event has been nothing but a positive,” Heathman said. “This event continues to grow in ways I never would have expected. It’s pretty cool that it evolves each year—I think it’s better that everything isn’t the same. We even toyed with the idea of changing the name because of the center consoles and even V-bottoms like the Factory Billet Outerlimits that have been a part of the event the past couple of years, but everyone knows it as Super Cat Fest so it’s going to stay that way.

“We believe it’s all about the eye candy, no matter what kind of boat it is,” he added. “Super Cat Fest was never intended to be a ‘manufacturer boat show,’ but with the incredible venue between Camden On The Lake and Shady Gators across the way, it’s definitely become an incredible show.”

And that’s why Heathman and the Speedonthewater.com invite anyone to come check out the Center Console Roundup this year for the chance to see the boats up close and personal, as well as converse with some of the company principals and dealers to learn even more about the boats.

The Thursday activities are going to begin with an aerial photography session with chief photographer Pete Boden. From there, test drivers Grant Bruggemann, Bob Teague and Shaun Torrente are going to run the boats with our editorial team.

Like the team did last year, each boat is going to be tested to collect a top speed, cruising speed ranges, fuel consumption information, acceleration numbers and more with an on-water safety team on hand for support. The team also is going to include Justin Wagner of Waves and Wheels to assist in the evaluation of the entertainment and electronics features of the boats.
