Support Our Troops Poker Run Turning 12, Seeking More Sponsorships

Raising money and awareness for H.E.R.O.E.S. Care, a Fenton, Mo.-based program that “provides support for members of all branches of the military and their families through pre-deployment, deployment, family reintegration and post-deployment,” the 12th annual Support Our Troops Poker Run on the Lake of the Ozarks in Central Missouri is set for June 27-29. The event opened registration, which has local businesses Performance Boat Center and Poly Lift Boat Lifts as well as Michigan-based Sunsation Boats returning as title sponsors, in late March.

“We are going to focus more on the troops this year and make sure the ones who are able to attend the event have everything they need,” said Missi Coil of Performance Boat Center in Osage Beach. “We want to make sure they have a good time and—more importantly—make sure they know they are appreciated.”

In 2018, the event raised $35,000 for the charity. The organizers are hoping to significantly increase that donation this year.

“We are working on getting as many sponsors as we can so we can donate more money to H.E.R.O.E.S. Care,” Coil said. “That is the main focus—raising money for the troops. “We’re still looking for sponsors at all levels, as well as donations. Anyone interested can contact me for more information.”

Organizers of the 2019 Support Our Troops Poker Run are hoping to top last year’s $35,000 raised for the H.E.R.O.E.S. Care program.

Though the event spans three days, the actual poker run happens Friday. The run includes a dozen possible stops for participants.
