Teague to Provide DIY Advice at Revamped L.A. Boat Show

With the leadership of the National Marine Manufacturer’s Association (NMMA) behind it, the Los Angeles Boat Show is expected to be new and improved when it returns to the Los Angeles Convention Center in a couple of weeks (Feb. 7-10).

This year, the Progressive Insurance Los Angeles Boat Show debuts its new in-water location at Burton W. Chace Park in Marina del Rey, which will feature new and used yachts and brokerage boats—both power and sailboats longer than 34 feet—available for onboard tours and cruising “test drives.”

A variety of performance-boat-related companies will have indoor displays at the show, including Essex Boats, Hallett Boats, Livorsi Marine, Nordic Boats, Performance Boat Candy, Shockwave Boats, Teague Custom Marine and Wozencraft Insurance. The NMMA is offering a variety of entertainment, speakers and celebrity guests to complement new features such as block party/boater appreciation events, the Welcome to the Water center and $5 admission after 5 p.m. on Friday.

One of the show’s new features is the addition of Fred’s Shed Interactive Learning Center, which showcases hosted DIY seminars with guest speakers for various boating-related topics. To cover the high-performance realm, the legendary Bob Teague of Teague Custom Marine signed on to share his unlimited supply of information on topics ranging from prop pitch selection and getting the optimal performance from your boat to the importance of monitoring your gauges and adding a blower/supercharger.

His sessions are tentatively scheduled for Thursday at 2 p.m., Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m., and Sunday at 3 p.m. Feel free to come learn, listen and interact with Teague and the other DIY experts at the free daily seminars held throughout the show. You can also find Teague and his helpful associates at the Teague Custom Marine booth (booth AR 1). Somewhat of a surprise, Teague said the company is not displaying at the Miami International Boat Show this year, citing costs and timing conflicts.
