Team Gallagher Claims Powerboat P1 SuperStock U.S. Championship

While the Gallagher team’s Jason Morton and Tom Whipple finished third and fifth in two races last Saturday in Florida during the 34th annual Hotelplanner.com Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix, their accumulated 223 points for the season enabled them to finish nine points ahead of the GEICO team and earn the 2018 Powerboat P1 SuperStock U.S. Championship. According to a press release from the Powerboat P1 organization, “it was a thoroughly deserved title win” for the Gallagher team, having recorded six wins in 13 heats across the season.

The Gallagher team of Jason Morton and Michael Whipple came home from Sarasota, Fla., last weekend with a U.S Powerboat P1 SuperStock championship title.

Taking first and third place in the Sarasota races enabled the Visit Jacksonville team to take the third-place spot in national points, pushing rookie team GoToSteves.com into fourth place in the championship standings. The teams finished with 189 and 185 points.

Further back with 142 points, having not raced in the last two rounds of the championship, were Frank and Al’s Pizza in fifth place, while Sarasota second-race winners Visit St. Pete/Clearwater finished sixth, on 135 points.
