Team Gotta Go IV Outerlimits Gets Gone

Dave Scotto of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, isn’t just one of the nicest guys in the high-performance powerboating would. He’s also one of the most patient.

Need proof? Consider this: His new Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats SL 50X—the “X” designation refers to the boat’s extended cockpit—was delivered to him this weekend and he still hasn’t run it.

Weather has kept Dave Scotto from his running his new Outerlimits SL 50X sportboat, something he plans to remedy within the next day or so (click image to enlarge). Photo courtesy/copyright Halsey Fulton/Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats.

“It’s been raining here,” Scotto said. “I should be able to get it out on the water tomorrow or Wednesday and I’ll let you know how it goes. Danny Kleitz at Outerlimits didn’t have much time, thanks to the weather at Outerlimits in Bristol (R.I.) to run it either other than for a photo session before it left the plant.”

Scotto paused for a moment, as if to appreciate and imagine running his new 50-footer called Team Gotta Go IV powered by dual-calibration Mercury Racing 1550/1350 engines that was more than a year in the making.

“But I already love it,” he said.

Painted by Stephen Miles Design of Owensboro, Ky., the new SL 50X gives Scotto plenty to love. The extended cockpit afforded him enough space for two rows of bolsters with power footrests. Kutting Edge Interiors of O’Fallon, Mo., handled the boat’s impeccably finished interior. Electronics include two flush-mounted Garmin 8612 GPS monitors, a Bluave stereo system created by Justin Wagner of Waves and Wheels and an LED lighting system.

Editor’s note: Look for a report on Scotto’s first sea trial in Team Gotta Go IV later this week. A full feature on the boat will run in the June/July issue of Speed On The Water digital magazine and it will appear in the 2019 Speed On The Water Year In Review collectible print edition.
