With just one race remaining in the P1 SuperStock USA Championship—next month’s final round in Marathon, Fla.—just nine points separate the top four teams.

Fresh off their national title in the P1 SuperStock UK Championship (read the story here), Pro Boat  teammates Andy Biddle and Tracy Blumenstein managed to do just enough to edge out Pier 57 and Morton Water to take the top spot on the podium after four heats in front of a big crowd on Jetty Beach in Cape Canaveral, Fla.

The final race of the event was a thriller as the teams battled three-foot swells in an unforgettable display of one-design racing. Biddle and Blumenstein were going deck-to-deck with local favorites Scott Utah and Lee Baker in the aptly named Space Coast boat before Biddle accidently stopped his engine.

“I was bopping up and down so high that my kill switch came right out,” Biddle said. “At one point Tracy was so far out of the cockpit that it looked like he was about to join the space program.”

Pro Boat’s exit led to a great battle between Space Coast, Pier 57 duo Elijah and Bill Kingery, Morton Water’s Jason Morton and Walton Cox, and championship leaders, Cynthia and Craig Belfatto in the Livorsi boat. The fans watched as all four boats traded fastest laps and, with only three seconds separating them at the end of the sixth lap, Space Coast pulled away for the win.

The father-and-son team in Pier 57 capped off a solid race weekend with its fourth consecutive podium finish to claim second in the overall points standings.

“We’ve been working real hard on our boat since the last round in Pahokee to get a bit more from it and I think we showed that today,” said a delighted Bill Kingery, who is looking forward to the season finale in Marathon (Sept. 13-15).
