Texas Family Thrilled With New Sunsation Boats 32 CCX Powered By Twin Mercury Marine Verado 400 Engines

For Texas-based powerboat enthusiasts Travis and Allison LeJeune—and their son, Tyler—the decision to purchase a Sunsation Boats 32 CCX performance center console through Performance Boat Center in Central Missouri couldn’t have come at a better time.

Between owning several ski and wakeboard boats to moving up to an Eliminator Boats 28 Daytona catamaran last year, the LeJeune family has enjoyed an active boating lifestyle over the years, but decided in the spring that it might be time to get a boat that can accommodate more friends and family members and possibly open the door to some new boating adventures.

So, at the Tickfaw 200 Poker Run in Louisiana in early May, the LeJeune’s began looking at other boats participating in the event to gauge what, if any, options might make the most sense for their lifestyle.

“Boating is a family affair with us,” Travis LeJeune said. “We all enjoy going fast and both Allison and Tyler drive the boat so we were all involved in the search for our next boat. We were definitely impressed with some of the new performance center consoles we saw at Tickfaw.”

One model specifically made an impression on the LeJeunes when they met New Orleans boaters Johnny and Lori Schillace, who were running a Sunsation 34 CCX. The Schillaces have owned three Sunsations over the years—a 29 CCX, a 32 CCX and now the 34 CCX.

“Johnny was very enthusiastic about Sunsation Boats,” LeJeune said. “The styling, performance, fit and finish; and especially the people at the company. I was intrigued and Johnny said he would have Joe Schaldenbrand get in touch with me. When I spoke with Joe, he offered to bring Allison, Tyler and me to Michigan for a personal tour.”

The LeJeunes spent the day at the Algonac, Mich., factory with Schaldenbrand, touring the facility and meeting everyone on the Sunsation team. LeJeune said the trip was an incredible experience for the family as they decided that the 32 CCX with twin Mercury Marine Verado 400 engines would be the perfect boat, especially because they’d have the opportunity to provide input into what they would like to see in their new 32-footer.

The slideshow above includes more images of the new 32-foot Sunsation along with a picture of a customized Audi that inspired the look of the LeJeune family’s first center console.

“Joe and the crew were amazing,” LeJeune said. “There was nothing that we wanted on the boat that Sunsation couldn’t provide to make our vision a reality. Allison and Tyler picked the interior colors and we worked directly with Mitcher T on the paint design. It’s a specialized car wrap color called Ocean Shimmer that I had seen earlier on a customized Audi, and Mitcher T matched it perfectly.”

Among LeJeune’s various businesses, he’s also a manufacturer’s representative for Exile Audio, a high-end audio components company that specializes in systems for wakeboard and ski boats.

“The team at Sunsation had no problem in accommodating our request to install our preferred amps and speaker arrays and they did an awesome job,” LeJeune added. “Joe’s son, Jeremy, was very helpful as he communicated with us throughout the build, sending videos and pictures of the boat in progress. The guys even surprised us with a personalized plaque to commemorate our new Sunsation.”

Upon taking delivery of the 32 CCX from Performance Boat Center in September, the LeJeunes christened their new boat Geaux Time, an homage to their favorite team—the LSU Tigers—and Tyler’s alma mater.
