Tirranna Leads Bevy Of Cigarette Beauties In Miami

Turning 50 this year, Cigarette Racing Team kicked off its Golden Anniversary celebration at the Miami International Boat Show today with a trio of exquisite new creations and three updated existing models that pay homage to the company’s past, present and future. Never before have the iconic high-performance sportboat and center console builder’s Miami event unveilings better-exemplified “The Cigarette Difference.”

Tirranna—Luxury And Performance Redefined

So truly special is the new Tirranna, a 59-foot beauty powered by six Mercury Racing Verado 400R outboard engines, that Cigarette housed it in its own unique display dubbed the Tirranna Boathouse in a section of the company’s spectacular exhibit on the Miami Boat Show docks. Equal parts luxury sport yacht and performance-oriented super console, Tirranna is the ultimate expression of the Cigarette brand.

The largest offering in the Cigarette line, Tirranna is decked out with features that include everything from an aft deck summer kitchen to an exquisite Poltrona Frau leather-finished interior. Among the outstanding signature design highlights of the 59-footer is its extraordinary cruising range thanks to the efficient outboard engines and its 1,000-gallon fuel capacity. As attractive as they are practical, three windows on each hull side provide sea views from inside the main cabin.

Top speed is 72 mph, more than impressive considering the boat had 900 gallons of fuel and nine people on board—and tipped the scales at 40,000 pounds, almost five tons above its dry weight—when the 59-footer reached that number.

“What we’ve created in Tirranna is something that defies all description—it doesn’t fit into any established powerboat category—but is every bit a Cigarette,” said Skip Braver, the owner and chief executive officer of the legendary performance boat company. “Combing luxury, innovation and performance, Tirranna is the perfect introduction to lead us into our 50th birthday celebration and the future.”

Tirranna’s uncompromising attention to detail and build features are endless. The boat’s hardtop is constructed of lightweight carbon fiber, which lowers the center of gravity of the boat and enhances driving dynamics. The top design includes innovative skylights created by glass panels mounted in the carbon fiber structure, a tempered-glass windshield, LED lighting and integrated forward flood lighting. The helm station’s expansive frameless windshield boasts aggressive rake and sophisticated double-curvature. It also features a pair of easy- opening glass vents that allow breeze to pass through the windshield when desired.

Decked out with electronics, Tirranna’s posh air-conditioned helm station is equipped with two 24-inch Garmin 8624 GPS monitors and four additional Garmin 942 monitors within view of the dual rows of seven-seat bolsters. Mounted overhead in the hardtop, one nine-inch Garmin unit is within easy view of the second row. The other nine-inch Garmin monitors are located in the bow, cabin and stern, and all are integrated into the boat’s NMEA network. In addition to displaying navigational information, they function as touchscreens for Tirranna’s digital switching systems.

To create elegant, indirect interior lighting, Cigarette installed high-power RGB LED strips below all upholstery panels and under the cockpit’s aft sliding sofas. For exceptional high-fidelity tunes, the builder went big with a 5,200-watt, 29-speaker—27 abovedeck and two in the cabin—Cigarette Pure Extreme stereo system by JL Audio.

Contemporary Classic—38 Top Gun 50th Anniversary Edition

Without question, the 38 Top Gun stands tall among the remarkable sportboats that helped put Cigarette on the map. So what better way to celebrate a 50th birthday than with a special version of the vaunted 38- footer?

Dressed in a custom paintjob commemorating the company’s 50- year milestone, the 38 Top Gun 50th Anniversary Edition is powered by a pair of Mercury Racing 565 engines and runs a spirited 88 mph. Special details include a CNC-machined stainless-steel plaque commemorating the Cigarette’s 50-year anniversary, a full cabin with a berth and an 1,800-watt, 12-speaker JL Audio Cigarette Pure Extreme stereo system.

“The 38 Top Gun—and later its 39 Top Gun counterpart—set a V- bottom sportboat standard that has not been surpassed,” said Braver. “Cigarette builds bigger sportboats such as the 42X, 50 Marauder and 515, but the 38 Top Gun remains intrinsic to the Cigarette model line and legacy. It is arguably the most important model the company ever built, which makes it perfect as an expression of our 50th anniversary.”

42 Huntress Elite And Other Freshly Polished Gems

Inspired by this year’s Golden milestone, Cigarette updated three popular models—the 42 Huntress, the 42 GTO and 39 GTS—for 2019 and they’re all on display at the Cigarette docks in Miami this week.

Though the hull and deck of the 42 Huntress remain their successful same, the Huntress Elite Package takes the 42-footer to another level of luxury performance. The package includes extensive billet-aluminum CNC-machined features such as an anodized command center at the helm station, storage boxes with internal LED lighting and power-adjustable footrests—each with perfectly responsive dual actuators and inlaid padding. The package also boasts Elite stitching throughout the exterior and interior upholstery, as well metallic-finish cabinetry in the cabin.

The boat’s C-Zone digital switching system makes controlling the boat’s every function from screens at the new low-profile helm and in the cabin simple and intuitive. The WiFi-enabled C-Zone system even enables operators to control those functions using their smart phones or iPads.

From its “Cigarette Cool” upholstery, which reflects heat up 30 percent, to its air-conditioning system to its interior and underwater LED lighting systems, the 42 Huntress Elite reflects the boat’s heritage as the ultimate luxury performance center console. On the performance side, five 400-hp Mercury Marine outboard engines power the stunner to 80 mph.

“Cigarette’s center consoles have evolved since we introduced our first 39-footer and no model reflects the current state of the evolution better than the 42 Huntress Elite,” said Braver.

Continuing the model update theme for 2019, Cigarette also upgraded its 42 GTO Reserve and 39 GTS performance center consoles—and visitors to the Miami Boat Show will find them all at the Cigarette docks.

The Cigarette 42 GTO Reserve

Dressed in a head-turning Stage II dual-tone blue paintjob, the 42 GTO Reserve is powered by four Mercury Racing Verado 400R outboard engines with color-matched cowlings and runs 75 mph. A trio of 17-inch Garmin 8617 GPS monitors graces the custom-painted-and-padded helm station, which is shaded by a Cigarette Panoramic Hardtop. The boat’s Reserve edition interior upholstery features heat-resistant Cigarette Cool upholstery with intricate Reserve edition stitching. In the cabin, the center table, which matches the mat-cherry-finished cabinetry with unique metal-finish accents, converts to a berth. Sounds come courtesy of a 2,900-watt, 12-speaker expanded Cigarette Pure Extreme stereo system from JL Audio.

Among Cigarette’s most popular center console performers, the 39 GTS runs 77 mph on triple 400-hp Mercury Marine outboard engines. Features on the updated-for-2019 model include one 17-inch and two 12-inch Garmin GPS chartplotter units, a motorized Sunbrella sunshade, a bow thruster and a power anchor windless. The builder also added a painted contrast stripe on the 39-footer’s hardtop.

The Cigarette 39 GTS

“Miami 2019 is a very special show in a very special year for us,” said Braver. “We won’t get a second chance to kick off our 50th anniversary celebration so we went all out with the Tirranna, the Cigarette-AMG 41 Carbon Fiber Edition, the 38 Top Gun 50th Anniversary Edition and the 42 Huntress Elite, as well our updates to the 42 GTO and 39 GTS.

“The Cigarette Difference is alive and well,” he continued. “But to fully appreciate it you need to get down to the Cigarette docks in Miami this week. And just wait to see what we have in store for the rest of the year. This is, after all, the 50th anniversary of Cigarette Racing Team.”
