Two Cruel Team A Family Affair For Key West

Switching things up for next week’s Super Boat International Offshore World Championships in Key West, Fla., Two Cruel team owner and driver Daniel Racz will be joined in the cockpit of his open-cockpit 30-foot Phantom V-bottom by throttlewoman Cynthia Belfatto—the wife of regular team throttleman Craig Belfatto—for the Wednesday and Friday Manufacturer Production 4-class races. For Sunday’s double-points contest, Craig Belfatto will rejoin Racz.

That’s the plan at least.

“Yeah, Craig thinks that so and we’re going to let him keep thinking that,” Cynthia Belfatto said, then laughed. “But, yes, in the interest of family harmony I think I have to let him back in the boat on Sunday.”

Belfatto began her powerboat racing career in the P1 SuperStock ranks with the Livorsi Marine team in 2013. Since then, she has been an alternative throttlewoman for various SuperStock teams including GEICO.

“She definitely knows what she’s doing,” said Craig Belfatto. “She’s very qualified.”

The Belfattos, who live in Apollo Beach, Fla., and recently took delivery of a new Nor-Tech 390 Sport CC powered by triple Mercury Marine Verado 350 outboard engines, have been married for six years and have not missed at least attending the SBI Key West Worlds since they got together. As it happens, Cynthia Belfatto will celebrate a milestone birthday next Friday in Key West, and she can’t see a more enjoyable way to spend it than in a raceboat.

“I’m very excited about it—very excited,” she said. “This is a dream come true for Craig and me.

At present, four teams are registered in the Manufacturer Production 4 class.
