Veteran Marine Journalist Eric Colby Joining Speedonthewater.com in 2016

Former Powerboat magazine editor-in-chief and senior technical editor for Boating magazine—where he authored the “Boat Doctor” column for 10 years—Eric Colby will be bringing his formidable journalistic talents to speedonthewater.com in 2016. Colby, who still writes for Boating and evaluates vessels for boattest.com, has never strayed far from the performance-boating world during his 30-year career in marine journalism. He remains one of the best-known and well-respected writers in the field.

An award-winning journalist, Eric Colby lives in Maine and spends most of his recreational go-fast boating time on Lake Sebago.

“When I came to Powerboat magazine in 1995, Eric was my editor,” said Matt Trulio, the co-publisher of speedonthewater.com. “I worked with him for several years—with his guidance and direction I became a part of the magazine’s test team and wrote my first boat test—and I always wanted to work with him again. Eric isn’t just an excellent journalist and writer who’s tested thousands of boats, he’s a former offshore powerboat racer and current sportboat owner.”

A multi-time winner in the annual Boating Writers International writing contest, Colby lives in Maine and spends most of his recreational go-fast boating time on Lake Sebago. He will contribute not only to speedonthewater.com, which provides news from the high-performance powerboating world seven days a week, but to the feature-driven Speed On The Water bi-monthly digital magazine.

Said Colby on his joining the speedonthewater.com team: “This is going to be cool. I’ve been looking forward to this for three or four years.”
