Victory To Campaign Two Boats In Fort Myers Beach

Fans of the Dubai-based Victory team will have two 41-foot catamarans to root for at Roar Offshore, October 12-14, in Fort Myers Beach, Fla. The upcoming event is the final contest of the six-race American Power Boat Association Offshore Championship series. According to a press release from the outfit, the Victory team will run a second boat “to bolster the team’s chances for a crown.”

The Victory team currently is tied for the Class One points lead with Australia 222 Offshore—each with two wins and 82 points in the first five races. They are trailed by Miss GEICO with one victory and 71 points.

The decision to run two teams in Fort Myers Beach was made by the Victory team’s board of directors.

“We have to be realistic about our chances in such a demanding sport, where even a minor mistake can end up with bizarre results,” Huraiz Bin Huraiz, the Victory board chairman, said in the release. “At the Board level, we all felt that it’s best that we provide our team of champions with the opportunity to go all out for a title.”
