Waves and Wheels Completes Cockpit Update on Outerlimits 46 Limited

After a full season of boating at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri—and a trip to Florida for the Florida Powerboat Club’s Key West Poker Run in November—Alex and Leslie Fruth of Illinois turned their 46-foot Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats V-bottom over to the talented team at Waves and Wheels in Osage Beach, Mo., for an interior overhaul after the boat returned from Key West. And according to Alex Fruth, who has owned several performance boats including an Outerlimits 42 Legacy, the interior updates Waves and Wheels completed on the 2008 46 Limited he purchased last spring are impressive.

“Justin Wagner and his crew at Waves and Wheels have done a lot of stereo work for me in the past so I know what they’re capable of,” Fruth said. “I’ve also been following the interior work they’ve been doing the last few years and have seen the strides they’ve made so when it was time to do the 46 I told Justin to get creative with it.”

Fruth added that he was impressed with the Waves and Wheels upholstery and fabrication team, especially since it only took the crew a few weeks to finish the boat.

Along with redoing the forward stand-up bolster seats and the three-person rear bench with gray, black and white Alcantara, the crew redid the gunwales in gray Alcantara with blue vinyl accents, installed new carpet and completed the sun pad on the engine hatch to match the cockpit colors and design.

“Compared to what the interior looked like before, the boat is night and day different,” Fruth said. “It’s almost unbelievable how much better it looks. I’m so glad we did it.”

According to Wagner, Fruth is always a pleasure to work with.

“Alex was pretty open to the design we came up with,” Wagner said. “I think it turned out beautiful, but it was done with my favorite colors—gray, black and blue—so I’m a little biased.”

Fruth said the boat, which is powered by twin Mercury Racing 1075SCi that were rebuilt by Mark Boos at Precision Marine in Kenner, La., is currently at Performance Boat Center in Osage Beach getting some work done to the transom and the molded-in swim platform.

“We’re going to do a few more things to the dash like replacing some of the gauges, panels and toggle switches as well as updating the VesselView system,” said Fruth, who added that Waves and Wheels replaced much of the cockpit hardware and installed two new step plates in the armrests on each side of the rear bench. “We’re not going to go gauge-less because we want the boat to look within its timeframe, but everything is going to look new and incorporate the latest technology.”
