Wozencraft to Campaign 29’ E-Ticket on Poker Run Circuit

For Devin Wozencraft, the owner of high-performance powerboat and powerboat-event insurance broker Wozencraft Insurance based in Tustin, Calif., buying a new 29-foot catamaran-based custom deckboat from E-Ticket in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., served a dual purpose. First, as a longtime go-fast boat owner whose prior rides include a 1990 Eliminator 234 Edge and—currently—a 2005 Force Offshore catamaran, Wozencraft needed “to move up” to something that could accommodate his family and was a lot more contemporary for their frequent outings on Lake Havasu and other Colorado River-fed waterways. Second, the new 29-footer, which will be on display next week at the Desert Storm Poker Run Street Party in Lake Havasu City, provides him with a state-of-the-art, aquatic marketing vehicle.

“At first I wanted a used Skater, but my wife wouldn’t have anything to do with it because more than half the time we’ll be using it with our two kids,” Wozencraft said. “It’s first and foremost going to be a family boat, and the E-Ticket 29′ Deckboat is a great boat for the family.”

Desert Storm is just the beginning of Wozencraft’s slated event tour with his new boat, which is powered by a pair of completely rebuilt and refurbished pre-owned 710-hp engines from Ilmor Marine and puts that power to the water through IMCO Marine drives. This season, he plans run the boat in the Texas Outlaw Challenge, the Lake Powell Poker Run, the S.C.O.P.E Poker Run, the Big Cat Poker Run, the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout and Monster Bash. Given the thousands of miles of boat towing that lies ahead for him, Wozencraft thought a new galvanized Extreme trailer with a drive-protecting extension was a smart purchase.

“I am really excited because the boat is going to provide me with the ability to run in various pokers runs we already promote and insure, and give me a chance to spend more time with more time with our friends and clients.

“Brad Stewart (the owner of E-Ticket) and the guys did a great job on it,” he continued. “They are actually going to house the boat for us at the E-Ticket facility in Lake Havasu City. They are so proud of it that they want to use it for as a sales tool to show prospective buyers.”

Though the boat will hit the poker run scene hard this summer, most of the time it will be an escape vehicle for Wozencraft (left) and his family.

Wozencraft does have one concern—his new 29-footer is capped at the hull-and-deck joint. It is the first rubrail-free boat he has owned.

“I’m a little anxious about that,” he said, then laughed. “So yesterday I went out and bought these big, over-sized fenders, the inflatable kind you can make even bigger.”
