Wozencraft World Tour Photo Gallery No. 10: Scenes From The SCOPE Poker Run

High-performance marine insurance expert Devin Wozencraft didn’t have last weekend’s Southern California Offshore Powerboat Elite Poker Run from Long Beach to Catalina Island for lunch on his original 2018 event roster. But after traversing the country more than a few times this year, the SCOPE happening barely counted as a road trip for Wozencraft and his 30-foot outboard engine-powered Skater Powerboats catamaran.

Close to home but far enough away, last weekend’s SCOPE Poker Run to Catalina Island was the perfect way for Wozencraft to cap his 2018 event tour.

Plus, the proximity of the weekend run made the event an easy family affair for Wozencraft, who brought his wife, Julie, daughter, Leilani and son, Lukas, along for the 50-plus-mile roundtrip Pacific Ocean adventure.

As is typical in Southern California, the morning clouds and fog gave way to an immaculate bluebird day. With 25 boats in the fleet, the run was far from the largest event in Wozencraft’s season, but as a Southern Californian he holds a special place in his heart for Catalina and its small city of Avalon. Plus, it was a whole lot closer to home than any other event he participated in this year.

And so ends the Wozencraft’s 2018 World Tour. Of course, he’ll be in Key West, Fla., next month for the Florida Powerboat Club’s annual poker run and the Super Boat International Offshore World Championships. But he’ll be boat-less. And after running in 10 events this season, he’s just fine with that.
