Yankees Win Another P1 SuperStock UK Race
American racers Andy Biddle and Tracy Blumenstein found more success overseas last weekend as the MBY Allam Marine team battled some tough competition in Plymouth, Britain’s “Ocean City,” to hold onto its P1 SuperStock UK Championship lead after two rounds.
The New Jersey teammates notched two victories in the historic arena of Plymouth Sound to take a 17-point lead (77-60) over Oval Racing teammates Nick Williams and Jonny Albut, who finished second in both races. Coming into the race in second place overall, the Pertemps team of John Wilson and Daisy Coleman left Plymouth empty-handed.
“Once again the competition was tight with a couple of other boats over there,” Biddle said. “The conditions were a lot like the U.S. series—not very rough. We went over a few days early and spent time going over the boat and familiarizing ourselves with it. We feel like we learned a lot about this particular boat and were able to set it up to our liking.”
After having the boat pulled and weighed in between races in Plymouth, Biddle believes people are a little tired of the Americans winning and that he and Blumenstein will definitely have a target on their backs heading into the next race in Torquay (Aug. 10-11).
