Bananas XL DCB M44 Owners Backing Super Cat Fest West Event

An eye-popping DCB Performance Boats M44 Widebody catamaran, Bananas XL isn’t just anchoring the high-catamaran builder’s display roster at Super Cat Fest West, which officially opens today in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. In an unusual move, local residents Dave and Buffie Megugorac, the owners of the Mercury Racing 1550/1350 engine-powered 44-footer stepped us as the title sponsors—under the Bananas XL M44 banner—of the event.

“Dave and Buffie personally donated $15,000 to support a local event in their community—and they happen to have a DCB,” said Johnston, the president of the El Cajon, Calif., high-performance custom catamaran company. “They are very generous people.”

“The goal for the organizers was to find a title sponsor other than a specific boat-builder so as not to deter other boat-builder participation,” he added. “The ‘sub-level’ sponsors are DCB, Eliminator, MTI and so on.”

Johnston, who currently is in route to the event, said DCB will have 25-plus boats participating in the happening, which is headquartered at the London Bridge Resort. The fleet will include the first four M37 Widebody catamarans, which is the company’s latest model.

“There’s a VIP Registration Party tonight,” he said. “Hull No. 3, which is owned by Trophy Truck racer Bryce Menzies, will be on display on a MYCO tilt trailer in the London Bridge Swap Meet Plaza.”
