Boyne Thunder Poker Run Sold Out

In what’s shaping up to be an early season trend for go-fast boating events, the 18th annual Boyne Thunder Poker Run, July 9-10, in Boyne City, Mich., is sold out. All 120 slots—including sponsor-dock spots—are taken as of this afternoon.

“We’re very excited that our 2021 event is sold out,” said Ingrid Day, the Boyne Thunder Poker Run events coordinator. “We do not have a waiting list, but we are so happy to have a full complement of boats supporting our charities.”

Sponsors include Michigan-based Nor-Tech dealer American Custom Marine, Jay Enn Corporation, Krytiuk Motorsports, Mercury Racing, Mystic Powerboats, Schaller Group, Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats, UNRIEHL Performance and more.

“We just signed up a customer who just purchased a performance boat,” said Michael Knoblock, the owner of American Custom Marine, which has supported the event since it began. “That was the last spot available.”

Though, as noted above, in-water sponsorships are gone the event organizers are still seeking additional backers.

“We do still welcome ‘on-land’ sponsorships, meaning there is no boat is involved,” said Day. “We are ready to host the event and share Lake Charlevoix and Lake Michigan with our participants.”

Speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden will be on hand to capture all the Boyne Thunder Poker Run action.
