Trulio, who founded SpeedontheWater.com in 2009, started with Powerboat magazine in 1994 as managing editor and held various editor positions until his tenure with the magazine ended with its sale in 2011. He is also a columnist for Boats.com and OffshoreOnly.com. A versatile writer, Trulio’s work includes everything from race coverage and destination features to technology pieces and personality profiles. In addition to winning feature-writing awards from Boating Writers International, Trulio won the 1999 Moulton T. “Monk” Farnham Award for Excellence in Editorial Commentary from BoatU.S. It is the highest honor given for commentary in marine journalism. His story assignments have taken him across the country and to Canada, England, France, Holland, Malta, Norway and Peru.

 

Jason Johnson

Johnson, also a former editor of Powerboat magazine, joined SpeedontheWater.com at the end of 2011 after Bonnier Corp. ceased publication of the magazine less than six months after purchasing the title. With a vast knowledge of the industry, he delivers an award-winning writing style to the site and additional credibility. Since graduating from Pepperdine University, Johnson’s job responsibilities have sent him to nearly half of the states in the country, and a variety of exotic and international destinations such as The Bahamas, Canada, Italy, Japan and Tunisia.
