Crockett Rockets To 132 MPH At Lake Of The Ozarks Shootout

Taking advantage of the cooler morning air today at the Lake Of The Ozarks Shootout in Central Missouri, engine-builder and offshore racer Tyler Crockett reached an impressive 132 mph in his 26-foot Joker V-bottom. The Michigander literally and figuratively started today’s competition with a bang as a piston in his 3,000-plus-hp engine let go before he reached the end of the three-quarter-mile course.

“I was up over 136 mph before the piston went,” he said.

Today’s run was the fastest ever for Crockett in the Central Missouri event. It was almost among his most stable. Yesterday’s 123-mph ride was a wild one, as was his pass on the first day of the 2020 Shootout. A propeller switch made the difference today.

“It was solid with this prop,” said Crockett, who is done for the weekend but mostly pleased with his performance. “I think this boat accelerates better than my Pro Mod racecar.”

Tyler Crockett continues to raise the bar on himself.
