Crypto II Outerlimits In The Works

Ordered by the late Patrick Higgins, a Canadian high-performance powerboat enthusiast, the well-known Outerlimits SV 43 called Crypto found a new home earlier this year with an Ohio-based owner. The stunning canopied 43-footer powered by Mercury Racing 1550/1350 engines was completed in 2018. But before it was finished by the Bristol, R.I., custom V-bottom and catamaran company, the boat was dressed by Stephen Miles of the Owensboro, Ky., graphics outfit that bears his name.

While Miles described the original Crypto graphics package as one of his most detailed projects to date, he’s already working on a similar paintjob for an open-cockpit Outerlimits SL 50 that will be dubbed Crypto II for the Ohio-based owner. Lamination reportedly is scheduled to begin in the next week or so.

“I’ve spoken to the owner several times on the phone,” Miles said. “He’s keeping the older Crypto and building a new one, the SL 50, which he plans to run.”

Miles said the owner, who has profited via crypto currency investments, told him that he likely won’t ever use the 43-footer.

“He told me that he just bought it because of the artwork,” Miles said. “He said he probably won’t even run it.”

The stand-up cockpit 50-footer should be completed next year.
