Dave Holley Exits Peters And May

Had Peters And May not steadfastly supported the powerboat racing world from tunnel boats to Unlimited hydroplanes, few go-fast boat enthusiasts would even be aware of the United Kingdom-based, global powerboat shipping logistics company. That push came directly from David Holley, the chief executive officer of Peters And May, who worked for the company for 12 years.

A stalwart financial and logistical supporter of the powerboat racing world, David Holley (left with two-time F1 H2O world champion and longtime friend Shaun Torrente) has departed from his chief executive officer role at Peters And May.

Now Holley is parting ways with the company. The terms of his departure have not not made public.

“I’m proud to have been at the helm of such an amazing business for so long and to have been able to steer it to the place it is today,” Holley wrote in a post on his Facebook page. “It was a role full of challenges with plenty of highs and lows.”

During Holley’s tenure, Peters And May became a global force in the powerboat shipping-logistics business. Its raceboat logistics transportation side thrived and Peters And May eventually had 10 teams under its sponsorship umbrella. The brand supported a number of successful racers, most notably two-time F1 H2O world champion Shaun Torrente, as well as aspiring racers in the junior ranks.

“At the time, powerboat racing represented excellent exposure for the money and we were focusing on targeting the racing market,” Holley said. “Fortunately we also had some amazing drivers representing us, all of whom were true professionals.”

“Without Dave Holley, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” Torrente said. “He was my first major sponsor—he allowed me to go overseas and he gave me the tools I needed to prove who I am as a racer. He is one of my best friends—I love the guy—and I support him no matter what. The money he gave me was far less important than the support he gave me. He always looked out for me.”

Holley said he is taking “six months off to work on new business ideas.” Beyond that, he was wasn’t revealing his future plans.

“I’m really excited to see what the next chapter brings,” he said. “All good thing must come to an end, and I thank all of my friends, colleagues and customers for their support over the years.”
