Deep Impact Shows Off First 450R-Powered Boat And More At Fort Lauderdale Show

While chatting with Tim Gallagher, the new general manager of Deep Impact Custom Boats and Blackwater Boats in Miami, last week he informed me that the company he rejoined earlier this month was going to be showing off its first Deep Impact powered by Mercury Racing 450R engines, four of them to be exact on a new 39-foot luxury performance center console, at this week’s Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in Southeast Florida that opened yesterday and runs through Sunday.

I told him I knew that and that I had reported it in a story last month before he rejoined the company he worked for from 2010 to 2012 before his seven-year stint with MTI in Wentzville, Mo.

“But did you know it has an LED rubrail?” he asked. “And did you know we’re going have eight boats on display inside the convention center?”

I replied no to both questions and Gallagher explained that the new 399 along with three other Deep Impact models—a 399 Sport demo model (the one I wrote about in September) and a couple of 369 models including a fishing-focused version and the first one with the company’s new hardtop configuration—were going to be inside the Greater Fort Lauderdale Broward County Convention Center next to four models from Deep Impact’s sister company, Blackwater Boats.

“We have a really cool Blackwater 43 with quad Mercury Racing Verado 350 engines and a few fishing-focused models that the hard-core guys are going to love,” Gallagher said.

Gallagher said he’s going to have several Deep Impact models—including the new 450R-powered 399—and the new 43-foot Blackwater demo model participating in next week’s Florida Powerboat Club Key West Poker Run. Demo rides will be available and the boats will be front and center at the FPC poker run village and docks in front of the Conch Republic Seafood Company.
