Fifth Annual MTI Fun Run Key West Bound

For the past four years, the MTI Owners Fun Run to the Florida Keys has headed from Miami to Marathon. From their Faro Blanco Resort and Yacht Club destination, participants have had the option of making organized day trips, striking out on their own or simply staying put at the charming host venue for the weekend. Key West, of course, has been among the most popular day trips for the MTI faithful.

Set for March 12-15, this year’s MTI event is bypassing its traditional Marathon home base and heading straight for Key West—more precisely Stock Island, which is just a bridge away from the city at the end of the road.

“We have a different destination and plan this year,” said Taylor Scism of the Wentzville, Mo., high-performance catamaran and center console company. “We’ll spend one night on Stock Island and two nights on Duck Key.”

On Stock Island, the group will stay at the Perry Hotel and Ocean’s Edge Resort. But they’ll all be under one roof—the Hawk’s Cay Resort—on Duck Key.

Scism said that approximately 50 MTI owners have committed to the event so far. Last year, high winds forced the company to scrub its organized Friday run to Key West.

“The weather this year is looking like it will be in our favor,” she said. “It’s looking good.”
