Fiore Celebration of Life is More Than Memorable

Although there were many tears shed at today’s Celebration of Life memorial for Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats founder Mike Fiore in Fresno, Calif., the event was far from depressing. In fact, it was humorous and enjoyable—exactly how Fiore would have wanted it.

More than 200 people attended the memorial, which was a true celebration of life as the banquet room was lined with poster-size images and all 30 tables were adorned with photos of Fiore, his parents, wife, kids, boating customers and friends. A video and slideshow through a catered lunch kicked off the event and several speakers—Bob Russell who has owned 13 Outerlimits, speedonthewater.com’s Matt Trulio who has covered Fiore for 20 years, Michael “Doc” Janssen who owns the SV-29 raceboat and Fiore’s brother-in-law Dustin Whipple of Whipple Superchargers—recounted many classic Fiore stories. Each one of them talked about Fiore’s family values, which came first before his dedication to the high-performance boat business.

There’s not much more to report besides pointing out many of the people who came to pay their respects to Fiore and his family, including Rob Blair, Mark Boos, Tony Chiaramonte, Erik Christiansen, Steve Curtis, Frank Dagostino, Ron Duggan, Win Farnsworth, Mike Griffiths, Jeff Johnston, Bob Leach, Bob Nixon, Dave Scotto, Joe Sgro, Bob Teague, Buddy Thomas and a strong contingency of the Outerlimits employee family.
