Florida Powerboat Club Launching 2022 Season With Return To Post Card Inn

Florida Keys-craving powerboat enthusiasts have just one month—though that’s a long time to wait for the true diehards—before the Florida Powerboat Club returns with its first event of the 2022 season. But with his Key West Poker Run more now more than a month behind him, Florida Powerboat Club head Stu Jones is already looking forward to getting back in the organizational saddle with his outfit’s Winter Fun Run, January 28-30, from Miami to Islamorada.

“It’s starting to pick up momentum,” said Jones. “The holidays always get in the way of registration momentum, but I am guessing after New Year’s we will probably pull 25 to 30 boats together for the Winter Fun Run. That will be a nice start to the year.”

The event’s host venue is the Post Card Inn, which was once a Florida Powerboat Club favorite. It has been more than 10 years, Jones said, since the Islamorada location has been a destination for a club event.

“It’s going to be kind of cool to return to the Post Card Inn,” he said. “They don’t have much dockage, but were are going to be able to keep all the boats at Chief Marine Group’s location in Islamorada.”’

As previously reported on speedonthewater.com., high-performance marine industry notable Tommy Hofstetter is the man behind Chief Marine Group. Hofstetter, who launched operations in October, and Jones are longtime friends and colleagues.

“Those guys really rolled out the red the carpet for us during the Key West Poker Run,” said Jones. “Chief Marine Center is going to be a big part of the Florida Powerboat Club agenda going forward. I’m really excited to get the New Year kicked off.”
