Formula Expanding Outboard-Power Options For Recreational Sportboats

In yet another sign of the times in marine power movements, Formula Boats is offering its popular 350 CBR, 330 CBR and 310 Bowrider recreational sportboats with outboard power. The move was announced in a press release for the Decatur, Ind., company earlier this week.

Consumer demand is driving Formula’s continued push into the outboard power segment with its recreational sportboat models.

“We’re seeing a trend with buyers turning toward outboard power for its reliability and ease of service,” said Wayne Porter, the vice president of sales for Formula boats, which introduced its first quad Mercury Marine Verado 350 outboard engine-powered 430 Super Sport Crossover model in late 2016. “The outboards offer tremendous advantages. And they have killer looks, too. We’re offering the option of custom paint on the outboard cowlings to match the Imron graphics on the boats.”

The 350 and 330 CBR models will be offered with triple Verado outboards up to 350 hp. The 310 model will be available with twin Verado outboards up to 400 hp.

Triple Mercury Racing Verado 400R outboards will not be an option for the 350 and 330 CBR offerings.

“Formula will always be a performance-driven company, but there always also has to be a degree of safety and security in these models,” said Porter. “A pair of 400s would be fine on the 310, but triples would be outside the safety envelope we want to maintain on the 330 and 350 CBR boats”

From the Formula press release: “This smartly balanced combination with expanded cockpit space utilization is the perfect match for all your boating ventures, taking you farther than ever before. The unique Formula design extends the fun into each entertainment zone without giving up the ever important flush cockpit.”
