While last weekend’s flat-water conditions for the Super Boat International Marathon Grand Prix in the Florida Keys didn’t produce much in the way of offshore raceboats in flight, it did give frequent speedonthewater.com contributing photographer Yvonne Aleman plenty to focus on. Aleman has a great eye “for all things offshore,” from V-bottoms and catamarans diving into corners and going rubrail to rubrail on the racecourse to casual images of boats at the docks, race crews, fans and venues.

Having Aleman and speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden of Shoot 2 Thrill Pix in Marathon to capture the action from multiple perspectives was a luxury we usually don’t have. (Though both brought back images from the recent Jacksonville River Rally Fun Run, we’re usually lucky to have one assigned photographer at any given event.) So we made the most of our good fortune—Boden provided action images for yesterday’s event recap (read the story), while Aleman delivered a variety of beautiful photos of raceboats and people—at rest and play—for today’s galleries. Together, the two photographers brought home the bigger story of SBI’s second race of the season in fine fashion.
