Photo Essay: Buffalo Halloween Fun Run

With warm weather in the forecast, a group of high-performance boat owners in the Buffalo, N.Y., got an early start on trick-or-treat with a Halloween Fun Run last weekend. According to photographer Rodney Olson, who was on hand to capture the good times on the water, the pre-Halloween powerboating tradition started last year.

“It went so well last year that we decided to do it again this year,” said Olson.” We had an incredible turnout. We had hardware including Jeff Morgan’s Fountain, A.J. Bogino’s Donzi, Kiel Szewczyk’s incredible Nor-Tech and, of course, Vance and Anita Hagen with their famous Mean Streak Hustler.”

While costumes were not required, according to Olson, a number of participants dressed for the occasion, which included a run around Grand Island and a pass by Niagara Falls, as well as a lunch stop at Docksiders Grill.

“As the day came to an end the real party began back at the marina where everyone who stayed the night really got to enjoy the camaraderie and friendships that define the Western and Central New York high-performance boating community,” said Olson. “We are already looking forward to next year’s boating season. Weather permitting, we may even do a Thanksgiving run next month.”
