Image Of The Week: Desert Scale With DCB

With shoreline in Arizona and California, Lake Havasu is for all intents and purposes a wide section of the mighty Colorado River running through some harsh and dramatic desert. With our focus on the many high-performance catamarans and V-bottoms that ply this popular waterway, it’s easy to forget that.

Captured last week, the image below helped us remember.

Dwarfed by the Colorado River and its surrounding desert landscape, this DCB M35 put everything in its proper perspective (click image to enlarge). Photo courtesy/copyright Ken Gallagher.

Powered by Mercury Racing 1100 engines, the catamaran in the photo above is a DCB Performance Boats M35 owned by Stephen and Kelly Marino of Auburn, Ala. The Marinos received the 35-footer in late July and immediately took the boat on the road, starting with the Florida Powerboat Club’s Emerald Coast Poker Run and then heading for Super Cat Fest at the Lake of the Ozarks in Central Missouri. From there, the catamaran went to the 21st annual DCB Owners Regatta last month.

And thanks to this image, their beautiful M35 helped put Lake Havasu in true—and undeniably grand—perspective.
