Image of the Week: Outerlimits 46 Catamaran In Action

Despite that 11 or 12 Outerlimits models—including the SV 43 that holds the V-bottom kilo record at more than 180 mph—participated in last weekend’s Buffalo Poker Run (read the story) all eyes were on the Bristol, R.I., boat builder’s new all-carbon-fiber 46-foot catamaran. It was the first public event for the cat, and it’s fair to say it wowed participants and spectators alike at the Western New York Offshore Powerboat Association event, which attracted a record 118-boat field.

The boat’s Canadian owner, Joel Begin drove the six-seat canopied 46-footer in the run with friends. Throttling in the cockpit next to him was Steve Curtis, a world champion throttleman/setup superstar and boat builder who is collaborating with Fiore on Outerlimits’ catamaran program.

To our knowledge, this is the first professionally captured image of the new Outerlimits cat published by a media outlet. Ace event photographer Tim Sharkey brought back the cat, as well as scores of other boats in the run, in living colors.

Does it look fast? Trust us, it is.
