Image Of The Week: Rayzor’s Edge

Having extensively covered the repower and renovation of the 2005 Skater Powerboats 30 Prototype catamaran, we’re pretty sure that—with the exception of owner Dale Rayzor—no one was more eager to catch the boat in action than we were. And in late August during our Speedonthewater.com Sport Catamaran/Mercury Racing Verado 400R roundup on Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks, we did just that.

You can read a profile of the Discovery Bay, Calif., resident’s beautiful 30-footer powered by twin supercharged 400-hp outboard engines in the upcoming September/October issue of Speed On The Water digital magazine. Given its age and that it wasn’t entirely finished or dialed in when our test team members Grant Bruggemann and Shaun Torrente got their hands on it, the boat won’t be included in our sport catamaran roundup. Instead, it will run as a stand-alone profile.

Still, thanks to its Boat Customs paintjob and incredible lines, Rayzor’s catamaran was among the most ogled beauties at the Camden On The Lake Resort docks, and that’s saying something given that we held our roundup during the first arrival day for Super Cat Fest. That a 30-foot cat built 13 years ago stood out among far larger and more recently built incoming cats speaks volumes about the fine work of Peter Hledin and his crew at Skater and Boat Customs’ principal Chris Mills.

Rayzor’s ride didn’t steal the Super Cat Fest show—that would be a big stretch. But it did command a starring role.
