Inside SOTW Mag: Growing Up Moe

I’ve used this adage before: A family that boats together stays together, but in the case of the Moe families—Jason, Laurie, Katelin and Colton from Washington and Shawn, Sieglinde and Saylor from Nevada—the saying is spot-on. No the families are not related, but their last name, the West Coast geography and the fact that they live and breathe boats are not the only things they have in common.

When your parents are Jason and Laurie Moe and Shawn and Sieglinde Moe, you have no choice but to love performance boats and the community of like-minded boaters that comes with it. Photo by Pete Boden copyright Shoot 2 Thrill Pix.

Both families are not afraid to take their boats across the country to experience different waterways and meet new people. Each family is made up of some of the nicest people you could ever meet on the water. And, last but not least, they both own a jaw-dropping performance boat that was featured in the Speed On The Water 2020 Year in Review print magazine.

With a focus on the family aspect, I figured it would be fun to look at what it’s like to grow up Moe—to be the two responsible, fun-loving teens who double as deckhands for their parents’ 46-foot Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats catamaran Hurry Up or be the almost 3-year-old who has been on the water her Moe Power boat-obsessed parents since she was in the womb.
