Inside SOTW Mag: Outerlimits SC 37 Profile—Brand Expansion

As any high-performance powerboat enthusiast drawing breath surely knows, the outboard engine-powered catamaran segment of the market continues to thrive. Sales, despite supply chain- forced delivery delays, are still booming and show no signs of tapering. So while you could say Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats is a bit late to the party with its new SC 37 cat powered by twin Mercury Racing 450R outboards, that party is still raging.

With its new SC 37 model, Outerlimits is making a strong entrance into the outboard engine- powered sport catamaran game, once again taking the company’s reach and appeal to another level. Photo by Pete Boden copyright Shoot 2 Thrill Pix.

Plus, and this is a very big deal for the Bristol, R.I., custom builder, Outerlimits customers are among the most brand-loyal in the go-fast boating world. So while Outerlimits had completed just two 37-footers at this writing, the company already has 11 ordered with deposits. That’s

a strong start for a new model that, until its first appearance at the Florida Powerboat Club Key West Poker Run last November, had gone mostly unseen.

Outerlimits’ first SC 37 was completed in early August 2021. A consultant on the project, multi- time offshore world champion and noted marine industry veteran Steve Curtis ran the boat with Outerlimits national sales manager Dan Kleitz to 125 mph on Rhode Island’s Narragansett Bay the day after it was done. Both were impressed with its maiden test session.
