Inside SOTW Mag: Statement 360 Catamaran Profile—Positive Expansion

Like so many boat builders rooted in the high-performance world, Statement Marine has become a successful luxury performance center console builder. The St. Petersburg, Fla., company entered the go-fast powerboat market in 2008 with a breathtaking 42-foot V-bottom— with an effective shock-mitigating sole—and followed that up with an over-the-top 50-foot catamaran. Both remain in the Statement line, but producing performance-oriented center consoles keeps the lights on. With help from respected industry veteran Craig Barrie, company co-founder Nick Buis guided Statement into the hottest segment of the go-fast boating world.

But there was room for expansion into other market segments and Statement jumped on it when designer Jay Pilini of former Spectre Powerboats fame sold the tooling for his newest 36-foot catamaran—now called the Statement 360—to the company earlier this year.

As of October, the company had taken seven orders for the 36-footer, according to Barrie. The first two were Pilini works- in-progress, meaning Statement purchased the existing hull and decks and finished the rigging, interior installation and more.
