Inside SOTW Mag: The Brit Lilly Interview

If Brit Lilly of LSB/Hurricane of Awesomeness team fame were any good at sitting still, he wouldn’t be a multi-time offshore racing world and national champion. But the ambitious 33-year-old isn’t wired that way—like his LSB teammate Kevin Smith, he’s always working and usually on something at Lilly Sport Boats, the shop he owns and operates in Arnold, Md. Or racing powerboats, which isn’t an option right now. Or playing hard with Smith in old cars on dirt tracks, which is.

Still, he sat still long enough to answer a couple of questions.

How are you handling the delay of the 2020 offshore racing season and what are you doing to stay busy?

(Laughs) Oh my man, I need to go to a kart-track racing or something—jump out of an airplane, ride a bull, just something to get my adrenaline going. But we’ve stayed busy. We’re an essential business in Maryland and our place is big enough that we’ve been able to social distance in our work environment. We’ve been working hard. We haven’t laid anyone off. But there has been no boating allowed in Maryland for more than a month, and it is harder to get paid by your customers when they don’t need their boats (laughs again).
