Inside SOTW Mag: The Devin Wozencraft Interview

With the exception of speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden, no one hits the road harder each summer than Devin Wozencraft of Wozencraft Insurance Agency, which has offices in both Irvine, Calif., and Lake Havasu City, Ariz. The 51-year-old high- performance powerboat insurance specialist, who recently added marine finance to his list of services, typically hauls his 30-foot Skater Powerboats catamaran to at least 10 go-fast boating events a season.

Wozencraft is a true traveling man, but his extensive time away from his Southern California home—sometimes with his wife and two children but most often solo— has paid off in writing insurance for boaters around the country. (Wozencraft Insurance Agency currently is licensed to write insurance in 44 states.) The advantage to him being temporarily grounded thanks to COVID-19? He had a little more time than usual to talk.

How goes the high-performance boat insurance business in the age of the novel coronavirus?

(Laughs) Well, you would never know there’s a pandemic, at least from our business. The amount of boat transactions going on is crazy. I have been working to 10 or 11 p.m. almost every night.
