King Of Offshore Reaches 1 Million YouTube Views

The founder of Fountain Powerboats in Washington, N.C., 81-year-old Reggie Fountain, Jr., hasn’t raced for more than a decade. But his racing achievements continue as “The King Of Offshore,” an hour-long documentary chronicling his unmatched success from his early days as a relentless tunnel-boat competitor to his multiple offshore world championships—all while building a thriving brand along the way—recently reached 1 million views on YouTube.

Reggie Fountain, Jr., has joined the YouTube’s 1-million-view club.

“Thanks to everyone who propelled ‘The King of Offshore” to pass the 1,000,000 views milestone on YouTube,” Fountain wrote on his Facebook page. “That’s right, one million views. If you haven’t seen it yet, click on the link. I hope you’ll agree there’s no faster way to spend an hour.”

Fountain didn’t just win more than 100 offshore powerboat races during his career, he was among the sport’s biggest supporters and boosters. Fountain literally spent millions of dollars on his own racing exploits and sponsorships, which in turn attracted noteworthy racers from Ben Robertson, Jr., to Jeff Harris, the chief operating officer of Fountain Powerboats, to the sport.

“I helped Reggie roll out the fiberglass on the first Fountain ever built,” said Harris. “Today, more than 40 years later, I still marvel at his drive, determination and passion. I’ve had a front row seat watching Reggie’s life story develop. Without a doubt, he’s one-of-a-kind.”

From his tunnel-boat racing glory days with Bill Seebold and Earl Bentz of Team Mercury to building boats for President George W. Bush to his more than 1 million fans who have enjoyed The King Of Offshore, Reggie Fountain, Jr., has been the ultimate high-performance marine industry influencer. Produced by John Potts at American Performance Media, The King Of Offshore is more than a stroll down Fountain memory lane. It is a must-watch for any go-fasting boating fan, the chronicle of a man who became not only became a cornerstone of the sport, but of the high-performance marine industry itself.

“My father has always been an inspiration to me,” said Wyatt Fountain, the oldest son of Reggie Fountain, Jr., and himself a former offshore racer. “It’s exciting that he’s still going wide-open throttle in his 80s. His turnaround after major knee and back surgery is miraculous

“I see it every day—the boats, the company, his customers and race fans worldwide keep him going,” he added. “At this rate, I don’t think dad will ever slow down.”
