Kuttawa Cannonball Run Registration Opens Today

Following up on last year’s most successful run in the event’s four-year history, the Midwest Powerboat Association opened registration today at noon CST for the fifth annual Kuttawa Cannonball Run hosted at the beautiful Kuttawa Harbor Marina, in Kuttawa, Ky., and presented by Lively Machine Company and Stephen Miles Designs.

Taking place from June 4-6 on Barkley Lake and Lake Kentucky, the event is expected to be another fantastic one with boaters from across the country already planning to make the trip to Kentucky and help raise money for local charitable organizations.

“We’re not sure how many people to expect this year; I don’t know if we’ll have as big of a turnout as last year, but we’re going to prepare for the same amount of people—or more,” said Jeff Hoefling, the owner of Lively Machine Company and one of the primary organizers of the run that attracted 140 boats in 2020. “Everyone had such a good time and the community was extremely appreciative of the event and the economic boost it provided.

“We’re raising the entry fee a little this year with the goal of raising more money for the community,” he added. “We already have the food trucks lined up again for this year. That was such a hit last year that we’re adding them for Friday night this year, too, not just Saturday.”

Along with speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden, who has covered the event the last two years, publisher/editor Matt Trulio is going to be on hand for this year’s event.

According to Hoefling, the run should be able to accommodate more participants if the demand is there, which he expects might be the case with pandemic restrictions still looming in other parts of the country. Entry fees cost $325 plus $125 for additional crew members. For more information, visit www.kuttawacannonballrun.com.
