Last year, the event attracted 120 boats.

“We’ve had as many as 180 boats but pretty consistently stay in the low 100- to 120-boat count,” said Justin Lucas, the event’s primary organizer. “For the most part, the run will be the same but we always try to do something to keep it fresh. The Friday bonus stop location and sponsor is changing this year as well as switching up the entertainment for Friday and Saturday nights.”

Though the main event is Saturday, there will a Friday fun run with—as noted by Lucas above—with a surprise. The simply massive, Saturday post-run raft up on Harmon Creek will surprise no one. It’s a Thunder Run tradition, as are significant Friday and Saturday night dock parties, both featuring live entertainment.

Lake Cumberland sunsets are just part of the event’s appeal.

The registration form also includes lodging reservations. Options range from accommodations at the State Dock Lodge to complete houseboat rentals.
