Nor-Tech Unveils 400 Super Sport Center Console
In the near future, Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats will begin building 390 Sport Console No. 400. The outboard engine-powered 39-footer is the most popular model in the Fort Myers, Fla., company’s 30-year history and it’s not going anywhere. But in the new 400 Super Sport, the high-performance boat builder has an elegant new center console that could be the next move for multi-time 390 owners such as Michigan’s Bill and Lori Lemanske, who were on hand for last night’s unveiling of the 400 SS during the Miami International Boat Show.

“Of course, ours will be red and white like our other three 390s,” said Lori Lemanske as she eyed the 40-footer on display in the Miami Beach Convention Center. “But it looks beautiful.”
The Lemanske’s 400 SS will be hull No. 7. At present, the company has 40 orders—14 alone from Canada-based Double R Performance—for the boat, which is powered by quad Mercury Racing 450R outboard engines.
Based on the 390 hull, the 400 SS is a totally new model from its GT rubrail, standard on the 450, 500 and 550/560 Sport Consoles, to its expansive hardtop with skylights, side windows and four additional JL Audio speakers. The Nor-Tech team created an expansive, all-glass helm station with two large Garmin GPS units. In both the first and second row, the bolster seats are larger than those in the 39-footer’s seating. The aft portion of the cockpit includes Nor-Tech’s popular Club Sport seat, as well as a new inward-opening dive door.

“Unless someone wants a live-well instead, all 400 Super Sport center consoles will come with Club Sport seating,” said Geoff Tomlinson, Nor-Tech’s dealer manager.
Offshore powerboat racing world champion Steve Curtis, newcomer to the sport Alex Pratt, Mercury Racing general manager Stuart Halley, several dealer representatives and more were among the 100-plus guests who attended last night’s VIP reveal of the 400 SS. Also celebrating—and hosting—the posh new-model release were Nor-Tech founders Trond Schou and Nils Johnsen, as well as longtime Nor-Tech salesman Terry Sobo and chief operating officer Henrik Margård.
The first 40-footer belongs to Schou.
“Nor-Tech has had a lot of success with the 390,” Tomlinson said. “But Trond and Nils always have something up their sleeves—they always have some project they are working on. The 400 SS is the latest, and everyone at Nor-Tech is really excited about it.”
Last night’s Nor-Tech 400 SS debut attracted more than 100 guests.
