Outerlimits Completes Second Outboard-Powered SV 29

Of the nine SV 29 sportboats built by Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats, seven are powered by single sterndrive engines. But the Bristol, R.I., custom V-bottom and catamaran builder does offer the sleek 29-footer with twin Mercury Racing 300R outboard engines—a savvy move given the still-rising popularity of the Fond du Lac, Wis., company’s outboard offerings—and now the company has completed its second 29-footer with a pair of 300-hp naturally aspirated V-8 mills.

The beautiful SV 29 is going to Dave and Shaliece Cook of Plant City, Fla. Outerlimits sales manager Dan Kleitz tested the boat earlier this week in advance of the upcoming delivery and he said it topped out at 96.3 mph.

“It’s a great all-around boat,” Kleitz said. “And it gets awesome fuel mileage.”

Waves and Wheels Marine Audio of Osage Beach, Mo., produced the SV 29’s interior. The boat, which will be hauled on a custom trailer from MYCO Trailers, is dressed in a clean and elegant graphics package created by Stephen Miles Design.

Viewed from any angle, the 29-footer is on sultry sportboat.

“This was the first SV 29 we set up with two 10-inch Garmin GPS units on the dash, which is pretty sweet,” Kleitz said.

Despite the latest SV 29 and the ongoing surge in SC 37 outboard catamaran production, Kleitz emphasized that the company is still building large models.

“We have Rob D’Angelo’s SV 50 coming back from Stephen Miles Design, a couple of SL 50s on the line and a few SL 52s due up in production,” he said. “We are finalizing designs for a new SC 46 catamaran with an eight-seat cockpit and the deck is almost ready to be molded.

“Our next project?” he continued. “A canopied version of the SC 37 cat. We already have two sold.”

With the twin Mercury Racing 300R outboards providing the power, the 29-footer topped out at 96.3 mph.
