Photo Essay: Celebrating Cigarette

Thanks to the team at Performance Boat Center, speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden captured more images of Cigarette Racing Team sportboats and center consoles last weekend on the Lake of the Ozarks in Central Missouri than he will for the rest of the year across the country. As previously reported, the fourth annual Performance Boat Center-hosted Cigarette Owners Rendezvous attracted a record-setting 87 Cigarette models, which—with two days of on water action—gave Boden ample opportunity to fill his digital camera’s memory cards.

With temperatures in the mid-90s and humidity percentages to match, the “coolest” place to be—outside of a shaded swimming pool or air-conditioned waterside restaurant—was on the water at speed. And between the Friday and Saturday night parties, that’s exactly where many Cigarette owners chose to be.

While most of those owners were headed home on Sunday, Boden was at it again that morning shooting a new Cigarette 42X powered by Mercury Racing 860 engines, as well as an immaculate Cigarette restoration project being handled by Performance Boat Center. Like the Cigarette Owners Rendezvous, both will be featured in the next Speed On The Water digital magazine, which will go live in early July.

Until then, enjoy this photographic Cigarette celebration.
