Photo Essay: Miller’s Cigarette 41 Nighthawk And Skater 368 A Perfect Pair

Wonderfully different as they are, a new 41 Nighthawk center console from Cigarette Racing Team and a new Skater Powerboats 368 catamaran captured by speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden last Sunday have a lot in common. First, both are owned by Tyler and Lindsey Miller of Kansas.

Even casual offshore racing fans will know the Millers as the owners of the Supercat-class M CON team and two of the finest and most down-to-earth people in the sport. Those who know them personally are luckier still.

Both boats also are powered by Mercury Racing 450R outboard engines and will be all over the Lake of the Ozarks this summer. The only weekends the Millers miss at the Central Missouri waterway during the season are race weekends.

And, of course, both are beautifully color-matched to their current M CON Skater 388 raceboat. Under construction at the Douglas, Mich., company, their new Skater 388 raceboat will be dressed in much the same way.

“They are both works of art,” said Tyler Miller. “Lindsey, the kids and I couldn’t be more impressed and ecstatic of how they turned out. Both builds were based around the concept of family boating at Lake of the Ozarks, while maintaining a sporty appearance. After running the 41 Nighthawk on Friday at the lake through bumpy water we finished the day thinking how amazing the Cigarette performed through all the water conditions the lake threw at it.

“Then came Saturday 3 p.m. for our maiden voyage in the Skater 368 and—wow,” he continued. “The cat tore it up going down the main channel in the ‘fashionable’ water conditions the main channel is known for. I checked multiple times with passengers to make sure they were all comfortable and got all smiles and fist pumps in return.”

Participants in last weekend’s Cigarette Owners Rendezvous got an eyeful of the 41 Nighthawk but only glimpses of the Skater 368. So Boden set up a Sunday morning, Tom Cline Helicopter-supported photo shoot for both boats.

Said Boden, “The air was cool—74 degrees—which is good for the helicopter and the morning light was perfect. Everyone was on the same program to get stellar shots.”

The Miller’s 41 Nighthawk is simply stunning, just ask Jake Leckliter and Sydney Bullock.
