Photo Essay: The Hardware Of Four Horsemen
Starting today at noon, 50 high-performance boats will roll out of Sweetwater Performance Center and Marina in Oshkosh, Wis., cruise the Fox River and enter Lake Winnebago for the 12th annual Four Horsemen Poker Run. As previously reported on speedonthewater.com, this year’s weekend-long event was capped at 50 entries.

But that doesn’t mean it lacks for hardware—far from it. There’s a heavy-hitting contingent of performance boats in town for the run. The Outerlimits brand is particularly well-represented with models from Dave and Nicole Weschler’s SV 52 to Gold Digger, the Bristol, R.I., company’s first catamaran, currently owned by host venue owner/primary event backer Jason Lindemann.
“It’s an awesome huge turnout,” said Gary Swanson, who is the general manager of Sweetwater Performance Center and one of the event’s organizers. “There are a lot of familiar faces and so many new ones that we are excited to have here. We can’t wait for today’s events.”
With his Outerlimits SV 43 sold and reportedly gone overseas, returning, multi-time Four Horsemen participant Vinnie Diorio will be riding with the Weschlers, who’ve also enjoyed the event many times. Wisconsin’s Diorio finds himself in an unusual position—as a passenger rather than a captain—in this year’s run.
“It’s perfect,” he said, then laughed. “My wife’s happy. Dave says we should just one boat and share it.”

Diorio did his first Four Horsemen Poker Run in 2012. He’s watched it grow to an event record of 84 boats just a few years ago. This year’s lower boat count, he said, hasn’t dampened anyone’s enthusiasm for the run.
“With all the big hardware parked in the river and all the people who were at dinner last night, it sure doesn’t seem smaller,” he said. “The Four Horsemen is kind of our kick-off to our short boating season here in Wisconsin. We get to reunite with the boating family we’ll see all summer, and Jason, Gary and the staff at Sweetwater and the Dockside Tavern make it a must-do run.”
Added David Weschler, Diorio’s longtime friend, from Erie, Ohio, “I’ve done the Four Horsemen run six times. “It’s a great venue with cool people, and great places to go.
